The Castroviejo micro needle holder differs fundamentally from the Barraquer micro needle holder due to the external ratchet. This reduces the overall weight in direct comparison. A ratchet allows the needle to be held firmly in place without applying any further force to the hand, which makes working less tiring. Working with suture material between 5-0 and 6-0 allows the instrument to be used for periodontal treatments. The straight shape of the jaw can grip needles from both sides equally without turning the needle holder. With a thickness of 1.2 mm at the tip of the jaw, this model is one of the largest in its series. It is also equipped with carbide inserts (TC inserts) for durability and a good grip of the needle in the jaw. At the end (part where the two halves of the instrument are connected by a screw) there is a "pivot-curved" closure that prevents the suture material from getting caught in the instrument and tearing off. The round handle ensures easy handling, while the F-LINE ROUND SOLID design ensures a balanced weight ratio.
