Shade determination is carried out with the utmost care. However, it can still happen that the final restoration appears lifeless when seated, with too little red and insufficient chroma.
This is often due to an optical illusion. It occurs because shade tabs are typically assessed without the pink gingival tissues, against the dark background of the oral cavity. As a result, incorrect shade choices may be made, which cannot be corrected during laboratory fabrication.
The GUMY-V gingiva-coloured shade tab holder allows for a more accurate simulation of the gingival effect. It enhances objectivity in shade determination and reduces misunderstandings as well as time-consuming adjustments and remakes.

The EyeSpecial C-V dental camera features a dedicated Isolate Shade mode for image documentation with and without gingiva. In this mode, up to three images can be captured: one in true colour, one with automatic masking of the gingival areas, and one in black and white for brightness assessment.
